Mykola Azarov: Now we are talking about Ukraine's joining neither to the EU nor to the CU

Ukraine's accession neither to the European Union nor to the Customs Union is undocumented at present. This was started by the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Facebook.

"Let me draw your attention to the fact that any document mentions neither the accession to the European Union, or to the Customs Union and, including in the Association Agreement with the EU, there is no word about the possibility of Ukraine’s joining to the European Union. This is easily seen by reading the texts of the Agreement that are posted on the government website: www.kmu.gov.ua or on my personal web-site: www.azarov.ua and published by the European Commission," Mykola Azarov said.

He stressed that "only irresponsible politicians from Maidan equate the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the accession to the EU."

The Prime Minister also said that "they are cheating people with their demagoguery."

Mykola Azarov noted that a similar association agreement the EU has signed with many countries, such as Turkey 50 years ago, and it has still not joined the EU. About 10 years ago, the EU has signed an Association Agreement with a number of African countries, etc.

The Prime Minister also said that Ukraine's chairmanship in the CIS "provides an opportunity to shape the agenda of the meetings of Heads of State and Government."

According to him, during the Ukraine's chairmanship in the CIS, it will pay the main attention of a free trade area development within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
