Stable course of the autumn-winter period and support of the population is one of the main tasks of the Government. This was emphasised by the Prime Minister of Ukraine during an offsite meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held in Odesa region on 8 November.

According to him, the government officials together with the leadership of the region discussed urgent issues and outlined the main priorities, one of which is the passage of winter.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government’s top priority was to support the population during the winter period. To this end, the Cabinet of Ministers has developed and implemented a set of measures to ensure that Ukrainians stay warm this winter.

Thus, at today’s meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution amending the Regulation on the Procedure for the allocation of housing subsidies.

“At the last meeting, the Ministry of Social Policy was instructed to develop a mechanism to maintain subsidies for families who have installed energy equipment worth up to UAH 150,000, and to stipulate that the subsidy will not be reduced in the event of power outages. Today we are making the relevant decision,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government also stressed that there were no restrictions on firewood harvesting for people and there would be no such restrictions. He added that the draft law on fines for firewood storage would not be signed by the President of Ukraine.

“Moreover, the state and the Government will do everything possible to help Ukrainians who harvest firewood to heat their homes in winter. We have an appropriate support programme for this purpose, which we are implementing together with our partners,” the Prime Minister said.
