  • Denys Shmyhal outlines key priorities of work in Odesa region

    Safe education, recovery, fortifications are among the priorities of the heads of regions. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during an offsite Government meeting in Odesa region.

    The Head of Government discussed with the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration the urgent issues that needed to be addressed and outlined the main priorities of work.

    Among them is safe education. According to the Prime Minister, more than UAH 500 million has been allocated to Odesa region for these measures this year. Another UAH 57 million has been allocated for the purchase of school buses. More than UAH 116 million has been allocated for the modernisation of school canteens, and almost UAH 130 million – for meals for primary school students.

    ‘‘Recovery. More than UAH 1 billion has been allocated from the state budget for various reconstruction projects in Odesa region. The main focus is on critical infrastructure, housing, schools, hospitals, and transport routes,” said Denys Shmyhal.

    Another priority is the construction of fortifications. For this purpose, according to the Head of Government, the state has allocated almost UAH 2.7 billion to the region. As of now, 99% of the planned works have been completed.

    “Financial sustainability of communities. In 10 months of 2024, the general fund of the budgets in Odesa region received 30% more money than in the same period last year. The balances on the accounts of communities have increased by 49%,” the Prime Minister said.

    Denys Shmyhal stressed that the state allocated almost UAH 8.5 billion in inter-budgetary transfers to the region in January-October. This money will be used to cover critical expenditures in education, healthcare and the social sphere.
