Launched in March of this year payment of improved pensions allowed to increase pensions for almost 9 million Ukrainians, with a minimum increase of UAH 100. This was announced by Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Andrii Reva.
It should be noted that due to the government pension reform introduced with the leadership of Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, already in October 2017 about 10 million seniors received an increase in the size of their pension depending on a number of factors, including the dangerous working conditions and seniority service. In 2018, military pensioners were granted improved pensions. The second stage of increase in military pensions was made by the Government in January 2019. Thus, the average amount of pensions for military retirees made up UAH 4,682.
In March, a new recalculation took place, which will continue in automatic mode under the constant formula. "This was a massive recalculation provided by law", explained Andrii Reva.
The Minister told that the essence of the recalculation is as follows: the average salary taken as a basis for the recalculation of pensions is increased by a coefficient corresponding to a 50 percent showing of the consumer price growth index for the previous year and a 50 percent showing of the average salary growth rate from which the insurance contribution was paid for the previous year.
According to the Andrii Reva, the pension rate was raised for 8.97 million to Ukrainians, and almost 2.2 million pensioners received a one-time supplement. Pensions were not recalculated for those categories of people who are assigned pensions under special legislation. Among those are prosecutors, ex-MPs, etc. The amount of pension growth varies. Minimum growth amounts to UAH 100. At the same time, 2.45 million pensioners received an increase worth more than UAH 1,000.
The Minister noted that all questions regarding the recalculation of pensions can be found in the Pension Fund offices.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman noted that the indexation of pensions from March 1 and onwards in the automatic mode, the monetization of subsidies for the payment of utilities and the introduction of support programs for motherhood and families with children should become priorities of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine for 2019.
