Last week, 242,942 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Ukraine. That is, the increase for the current 7 days was 44 percent.
"According to our forecasts, in the next two weeks this figure may increase up to 60,000 people per day," said Health Minister Viktor Liashko.
The number of new cases in the Zaporizhia region grew the most (+ 109.9%). There are currently 27,217 COVID-19 patients in healthcare facilities throughout Ukraine.
"Thanks to vaccination, we have no more than 4,000 hospitalized patients per 40,000 new patients per day, which means that the hospitalization rate is now under 10%. Meanwhile, the wave of Omicron causes an average of 9 deaths per 1,000 cases," said Viktor Liashko.
As of today, 71,630 COVID beds have been allocated, 96.3% of which are provided with oxygen. There have been also allocated 5,282 beds for hospitalization of children.
It should be noted that 60,000 courses of Molnupiravir, intended for the treatment of COVID-19, were delivered to Ukraine yesterday.
About 30.7 million vaccinations have been carried out in Ukraine since the beginning of the vaccination campaign. More than 450,000 Ukrainians have already received the booster shot. The leader in vaccination of persons in the age group of 60+ is the city of Kyiv with a rate of 71.2%.
Vaccination, along with abiding by anti-epidemic rules, is an unalterable way to reduce the risk of severe disease and death from COVID-19.
