During a regular meeting on January 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new wage rate scale for calculating salaries of employees of budgetary institutions.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, this decision makes it possible to increase teachers' salaries by almost 20% in January already.
"We have promised, and we are fulfilling our promise accordingly. I would like to emphasize that this year the Government has allocated almost UAH 100 billion for the salaries to our teachers. Therefore, today's decision is absolutely worked out and provided with appropriate finances," the Head of Government said.
In addition to raising teachers' wages, according to the Prime Minister, the Government has also planned a resource to increase pay for medical personnel by 30% this year.
"Also, this year there will be held an indexation of pensions, funds for additional payments to pensioners aged over 75 have been planned. Disability benefits, payments for children deprived of parental care, and payments to Chernobyl victims are to be increased. And it is of paramount importance to ensure that the state maximally supports vulnerable layers of the population and those who really need it," Denys Shmyhal accentuated.
