  • Over the past six months, Cabinet of Ministers has kicked off a number of programs to increase pensions and social benefits, says Denys Shmyhal

    The Government has raised a number of social and retirement payments. Over the past six months, a number of relevant programs have been launched. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal made this statement during the Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada on September 24.

    In particular, according to the Prime Minister, pensions were indexed by 11% for almost 9 million pensioners, monthly surcharges of UAH 2,000 for military pensioners were introduced and pensions for disabled persons due to Chernobyl incident were increased by UAH 2-UAH 2,500.

    In addition, pensions for working pensioners have been indexed, and from October 1 this year, surcharges in the amount of UAH 400 will be paid to retirees over the age of 75 years.

    "Also from October next year, pensioners over the age of 70 will receive additional payments to the tune of UAH 300. Last year, we introduced surcharges of UAH 500 for pensioners over the age of 80. Thanks to the President's initiative, such a program was introduced for the first time in Ukraine," Denys Shmyhal underscored.

    The Prime Minister stressed that these steps are only part of the Government's work to improve the welfare protection of Ukrainians.
