On 9 August, Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, met with Denise Brown, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, and Matthias Schmale, the successor coordinator. The event was also attended by Deputy Minister Ihor Bezkaravaynyi.

"Denise Brown is completing her mission in Ukraine and we are grateful for the multifaceted work that took place under her supervision. The Ministry of Economy highly commends the efforts of all UN agencies in the field of humanitarian demining. After all, it is the zero stage of recovery, which is essential for bringing agricultural land back into use. Humanitarian demining is the basis for launching the economy of the de-occupied regions, restoring business operations and returning Ukrainians home. We are also grateful for the support provided to farmers and other projects and initiatives to develop the Ukrainian economy that have been implemented during its work. It was the UN agencies, under the leadership of Denise Brown, that were the first to use the principle of "helping Ukraine with everything originating in Ukraine" by purchasing domestic machines to prepare the ground for demining. We look forward to fruitful cooperation with the UN Office in Ukraine," stressed Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The UN representatives noted that the UN would further work on key areas with representatives of the Government, NGOs and communities to ensure further support for Ukrainians and the socio-economic development of the state.
