The Government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) continue their dialogue on the implementation of reforms in the Ukrainian economy and public administration.

During a meeting between Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and the IMF mission led by Uma Ramakrishnan, Deputy Director of the IMF’s European Department, the discussion focused on the state of Ukraine’s implementation of its commitments under the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies, as well as on how to more effectively synchronise the recommendations and proposals of all international partners to accelerate the attraction of private investment in the Ukrainian economy.

The meeting was also attended by IMF Mission Chief for Ukraine Gavin Gray, his deputy Sanaa Nadeem, Alternate Executive Director for Ukraine at the IMF Vladyslav Rashkovan, as well as IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Vahram Stepanyan and Deputy Minister of Economy Volodymyr Kuzio.

“One of the key tasks of the Government’s economic bloc is to attract private investment to rebuild Ukraine as soon as possible. We now have several programmes that need to be coordinated to make them more effective. The Government has developed an action programme for this year, which includes 11 key priority areas of economic development and defines the final terms of the EU’s four-year Ukraine Facility programme. At the same time, we are taking into account the IMF benchmarks and recommendations of the European Commission, as well as the developments with the World Bank and the OECD. In other words, in order to accelerate the process of attracting investment to Ukraine and economic recovery, we must synchronise with all international partners,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

She described the key areas of cooperation with the IMF, including: the Ukraine Facility, the 5-7-9% affordable lending programme, the corporate governance reform programme, approaches to public investment management, and the RDNA-3.

“In cooperation with our partners, we have two priorities. The first is to ensure macro-financial stability, and the second is to support and develop the private sector. We want to stimulate Ukraine’s recovery, and the professional expertise of the IMF mission helps us find the right solutions,” concluded Yuliia Svyrydenko.
