Yulia Svyrydenko: Mykolaiv residents will receive fresh water for the first time since 2022

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko inspected a new main water pipeline in Mykolaiv, which will soon supply the city with fresh water.

In 2024, UAH 8.7 billion was allocated from the state budget for the construction of a new water intake system from the Southern Bug River.

“Thanks to the Agency for Restoration, we reduced the project cost to UAH 6.5 billion. The savings are being redirected to build water pipelines in other regions,” said the Prime Minister.

Construction began in January 2025, and the pipeline was tested in August. Water is already being supplied to the water utility’s reservoirs, and within two weeks, fresh water will fully replace saline water in the city’s systems.

The pipeline will provide 120,000 cubic metres of water daily for households and 50,000 cubic metres for agricultural irrigation.

Pipes and pumps are installed underground, shelters for workers are being completed, and remote control panels, backup power, and protection systems against attacks have been installed. The project is now in its final stages.

“Our goal is uninterrupted water supply for all Ukrainian communities. To scale up this effort, the Government approved a list of projects yesterday for new construction, reconstruction, major repairs, and re-equipment of water supply systems and networks in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions,” Yulia Svyrydenko emphasised.
