Yulia Svyrydenko: Women deputies of local councils can freely cross state border during martial law

Today, the Government adopted a decision concerning women deputies of local councils who perform their duties on a voluntary basis. From now on, they will have the right to freely cross the state border during martial law.

Previously, even during lawful leave, such deputies could not leave Ukraine – to visit family or deliver aid to the military. This created barriers to their volunteer activities and forced some elected representatives to relinquish their mandates.

“The new decision removes these restrictions. We want women deputies to remain active and continue developing their communities,” stressed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

The changes apply to deputies at all levels of local councils, except those receiving salaries for work in local government bodies.
