Yulia Svyrydenko: We are improving programme of business insurance against military risks
On January 1, a mechanism for insuring property against military risks came into effect, much anticipated by businesses amid constant russian attacks on enterprises and infrastructure. The first five applications from businesses for this program are already being processed. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“The Government remains in constant dialogue with businesses, communities, and regions, so we are improving this mechanism based on additional requests from entrepreneurs that we have received during this time,” Yulia Svyrydenko noted.
The main stages of improving the business insurance program against military risks are as follows:
– Expanding coverage
Compensation now covers not only real estate but also production equipment—machines, devices, tools, and machinery.
– Streamlining processes
A property appraisal report is no longer required to submit an application. Entrepreneurs independently indicate the amount of probable damage. In the event of destruction, an assessment of damages is required.
– Clarification of military risks
Compensation is provided not only in cases of direct missile or artillery strikes, but also in cases of damage from shock waves, falling UAVs, guided aerial bombs, debris, and other indirect effects of weapons.
– Setting fairer limits
The compensation limit of up to UAH 10 million for property or up to UAH 1 million for insurance premiums now applies to each legal entity separately, rather than to all related parties.
“These changes are the result of systematic work with regions and businesses, which are already sharing their practical experience of applying them. As before, state support works in two directions: direct compensation for losses to enterprises in frontline regions and partial compensation for insurance premiums for businesses in the rest of the country," said Yulia Svyrydenko.
The mechanism applies to property damaged or destroyed from January 1, 2026.
Insurance of property against military risks is part of the Made in Ukraine policy and is administered by the Export Credit Agency.
