Yulia Svyrydenko: Over 1 GW of cogeneration capacity already connected in Ukraine
In Ukraine, more than 1 GW of cogeneration capacity has already been connected to the general energy grid. At the same time, cogeneration units that have been built and are technically ready for launch in certain communities remain unconnected. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
“This is heat and electricity that the country could be receiving right now – at the height of constant enemy attacks on the energy system. That is why we continue to adopt decisions for the fastest possible connection of all available cogeneration units that businesses have, and that communities purchase and receive from international partners,” emphasised the Head of Government.
To this end, regional military administrations must ensure the formation and verification of a list of all cogeneration units, including those currently not connected to the grid. The relevant information must be submitted to the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development. The State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision will be responsible for the ongoing updating of data in a special dashboard.
Regional military administrations, together with local self-government bodies, state-owned companies, and distribution system operators, must ensure the prompt connection of all available cogeneration units and immediately begin the production of electrical and thermal energy. The State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision and the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities must simplify the procedures for connecting cogeneration to the grid and carry out constant monitoring of the connection process.
“In the event of any abuses, officials responsible for ensuring the connection of cogeneration facilities will bear personal responsibility for failure to implement government decisions,” stressed the Prime Minister.
To coordinate this work, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established a Coordination Centre for the Development of Cogeneration.
In addition, the Government is working on additional incentives for businesses to make the installation and connection of cogeneration units as quick and simple as possible. A single window for entrepreneurs’ appeals continues to operate on the Pulse platform – https://pulse.gov.ua/
