Yulia Svyrydenko: Government simplifies mechanism for providing temporary housing to internally displaced persons

The Government has adopted a decision that simplifies access to state and municipal property for the accommodation of internally displaced persons. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

From now on, organisations that provide shelter to IDPs can rent state and municipal property on preferential terms.

• Public associations and charitable organisations can rent premises for IDPs to live in at a symbolic rate of 0.01 % of the estimated rent.

• State and municipal institutions in the fields of education, health care, culture, physical culture and sports, and social protection can rent property to house IDPs without auction — for UAH 1 per year for each property.

• Business entities with a state share of more than 50% may transfer their real estate for IDP accommodation during the period of martial law and for six months after its end — also for UAH 1 per year.

"These conditions simplify access to vacant dormitories, sanatoriums, training bases and other premises and allow communities to more quickly arrange temporary accommodation for people who have been forced to flee their homes through the war," explained the Prime Minister.
