Yulia Svyrydenko: Government is working to ensure every child can learn in safety

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, together with the government team and MPs, is working in Kharkiv region today.

“We started the day by inspecting a shelter at a lyceum, where 400 pupils will soon begin their fourth academic year under wartime conditions,” the Prime Minister said.

Kharkiv region leads in the number of shelters being built in educational institutions.

Yulia Svyrydenko stressed the need to “do everything to ensure every child can learn in safety.”

According to her, the Government has allocated over UAH 6 billion for equipping shelters, with some funds still unspent, so work must be accelerated.

“Some projects will continue into 2026 – it’s vital to ensure continuous funding,” the Prime Minister emphasised.

Yulia Svyrydenko noted that, together with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, local authorities, and MPs, they outlined steps to complete the construction of shelters.

During the visit, the government team also inspected a kindergarten where the first shelter in Ukraine for a preschool institution is being built.

“We are working on a solution to allow subventions to be directed to kindergartens as well. I will ensure that the allocated resources translate into completed and safe shelters,” Yulia Svyrydenko underscored.
