Yulia Svyrydenko: Government steps up support for frontline Zaporizhzhia

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko paid a working visit to Zaporizhzhia region. Together with the Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, and Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, she inspected critical infrastructure facilities, newly opened healthcare and social facilities, and met with local residents.

The Prime Minister reviewed the construction of protective structures at critical infrastructure sites. She also visited a petrol station damaged by enemy attacks, where a new emergency response protocol for filling station staff during attacks was presented.

Yulia Svyrydenko attended the opening of a new surgical building at one of the region’s children’s medical facilities. The modern 49-bed building includes a radiation shelter, operating theatres, an intensive care unit and high-dependency wards.

During a visit to a temporary accommodation centre for people who had lost their homes or fled occupied territories, the Prime Minister highlighted support for internally displaced persons.

“We are expanding the support system for internally displaced persons, particularly those from the most vulnerable groups. This year, UAH 1 billion has been allocated through a subvention to expand capacity at temporary accommodation centres, taking into account the needs of people with reduced mobility,” she said.

The accommodation centre was designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities and residents with reduced mobility. It has 16 rooms and can accommodate 36 people.

As part of the working visit, the Prime Minister also met with the veterans’ community. The discussion focused on treatment, rehabilitation, long-term support following injury, housing opportunities and reintegration into civilian life. Twenty-two veterans received housing certificates.

Yulia Svyrydenko also met with young people to discuss education, career choices, internships, youth councils, safe learning environments, the future economy, and why it is worth staying in Ukraine and returning to Zaporizhzhia.

“My advice is to be afraid of nothing. Today, in Ukraine, it is possible to realise even the boldest dream. The most important things in the world are happening here and now, in our country,” the Prime Minister told the young people.

She also recognised winners of national academic Olympiads and competitions, as well as graduates who achieved the highest scores in the National Multi-subject Test (NMT). In total, 52 school and university students received cash certificates.
