Yulia Svyrydenko: Government provides financial support to businesses and citizens to strengthen energy resilience

The Government continues to implement financial support programmes for businesses, communities and citizens aimed at developing their own generation capacity and ensuring energy independence amid russian attacks on energy infrastructure. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

“Five targeted government programmes are currently in operation, enabling businesses, communities and private households to receive assistance for the installation of energy equipment. Our goal is to protect enterprises, residents of apartment buildings and private households from russian energy terror,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to the Prime Minister, the development of distributed generation and energy autonomy is one of the key elements of the Resilience Plans for regions and communities.

Among the programmes already available to Ukrainians:

  • 0% loans for generators and autonomous power equipment

The programme helps micro, small and medium-sized businesses purchase generators and other equipment for autonomous power supply.

Maximum loan amount – up to UAH 10 million for up to 3 years. Since the start of the programme, more than 400 loans have been issued totalling over UAH 620 million.

  • “5-7-9%” loans for energy equipment

Up to UAH 250 million in financing for businesses and homeowners’ associations for the construction and installation of gas turbine, gas piston, biogas and cogeneration plants. 155 loans have already been issued for a total of over UAH 2.6 billion.

  • Own generation at 10% per annum – up to EUR 25 million for businesses

A programme for medium and large businesses. It allows companies to attract between EUR 1 million and EUR 25 million (from EUR 500,000 in frontline regions) for the construction of new generating capacity, energy storage systems, cogeneration plants, as well as biogas and biomass projects. Loan term – up to 5 years. Priority is given to energy-deficit and frontline regions.

  • Energy support for OSBBs and housing construction cooperatives

Loans from 0% to 7% per annum for the installation of generators, solar power stations and heat pumps for apartment buildings.

“The state compensates up to 70% of the project cost. Maximum loan amount – up to UAH 3 million. 15 loans have already been issued for over UAH 22 million,” highlighted Yulia Svyrydenko.

  • Energy support for households

Loans from 0% to 7% per annum for owners of private houses and townhouses to purchase generators, batteries or solar power stations.

The state compensates up to 30% of the project cost. Maximum loan amount – up to UAH 480,000. Nearly 1,200 loans have already been issued for over UAH 420 million.
