Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė during her first official visit to Kyiv.

“I am deeply grateful to Lithuania for the consistent and substantial support provided to Ukraine since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion — an amount equal to about 2% of Lithuania’s GDP. I also thank the Lithuanian government for its decision to continue allocating at least 0.25% of GDP annually to support Ukraine’s defense and security. Lithuania’s principled stance on Ukraine’s European integration remains invaluable. Ukraine must join the European Union as soon as possible,” emphasized the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

Yulia Svyrydenko highlighted that an important aspect of bilateral cooperation is the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is already underway without waiting for the war to end. Ten projects have already been completed, with six more in progress, including the construction of shelters for schools in frontline regions.

According to the Prime Minister, Lithuania is also aiding in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, having already allocated EUR 83 mn for this purpose.

“Today, we signed a memorandum between the Government Office of the Republic of Lithuania and Ukraine’s State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure,” said Yulia Svyrydenko.

The Head of Government also expressed gratitude to Inga Ruginienė for the important initiative to support the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children abducted by russia after their return to Ukraine.

Additionally, during the meeting, the counterparts commended the Create Ukraine project, implemented by Lithuania’s Central Project Management Agency (CPVA).

“This initiative helps bring back young Ukrainian professionals with international experience to serve in the public sector. This fall, recruitment has been expanded to 25 participants — talented individuals already contributing to Ukraine’s transformation,” stressed the Ukrainian Prime Minister.

Yulia Svyrydenko thanked her Lithuanian counterpart for her kind words about the strength of Ukrainian women, especially during the full-scale invasion: “Women leaders play a decisive role in strengthening our societies, our Armed Forces, and our politics. Together, we will continue building resilient states ready to meet the challenges facing Europe.”
