Ukraine has received a tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union amounting to EUR 4 billion under the ERA Loans mechanism.
It is symbolic that the payment has been disbursed today, on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. This tranche is funded by extraordinary proceeds of immobilised russian central-bank assets. It is an important signal of Europe’s resolve to strengthen Ukraine’s defense, resilience and future.
“I thank President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis for their leadership. These funds mean lives saved, cities rebuilt, and Ukraine’s European path secured.,” emphasized Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
