Ukraine does not merely export grain; it is ready to supply world-class food products, share agricultural technologies, irrigation methods and processing expertise with countries of the Global South in order to strengthen food security worldwide. This was emphasised by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko at the fourth annual International Food Security Summit “Food from Ukraine”, which is taking place in Kyiv.

“Today, at the fourth International Food Security Summit, we announced the transition from providing humanitarian aid to mutually beneficial partnerships with African countries,” Yulia Svyrydenko said. “Despite the war, Ukrainian agricultural producers this season account for 36% of global sunflower oil exports, 38% of sunflower meal, and more than 13% of global corn exports. Our courageous farmers and producers continue their work even under the hardest conditions – shelling, mined fields, and drone attacks in frontline areas.”

The Prime Minister noted that the AGROEXPO exhibition, held as part of the summit, demonstrates that Ukrainian entrepreneurs are developing modern agricultural machinery and processing equipment even during wartime. All of this is Made in Ukraine by Ukrainian engineers – and it works.

Yulia Svyrydenko particularly stressed the importance of continued support for humanitarian demining. More than 170,000 km² of Ukrainian territory is potentially contaminated with explosive ordnance. This is land that could feed tens of millions of people. Therefore, demining is not only a Ukrainian priority but a global one for food security.

“We know many guests crossed thousands of kilometres to be here. Your presence and engagement are a strong signal of unity and confidence in the power of our partnership,” the Head of Government said, thanking Ukraine’s international friends who attended the summit and inviting partners to join the Food from Ukraine initiative – in production, logistics, investment and demining.

“Together, we can strengthen global supply chains and feed millions of people,” underscored Yulia Svyrydenko.
