Yulia Svyrydenko meets with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu
Ukraine and Moldova are strategic partners who clearly understand the importance of standing together. From the very first days of russia’s full-scale aggression, Moldova has consistently supported Ukraine. This was emphasised by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko during her meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu.
The key focus was the development of transport infrastructure, particularly at the border. Enhanced cooperation in this area will speed up border crossings and facilitate trade and transit. Energy security was also discussed separately. The parties agreed to continue consultations on joint solutions and closer coordination.
“I thank the Government of Moldova for the announced assistance package to Ukraine amid the current energy crisis, with a total value of EUR 700,000, consisting of generators, transformers, wires and cables, medical equipment, and transport. The first shipment has already arrived in Ukraine today,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted.
Yulia Svyrydenko separately thanked her Moldovan colleagues for the swift and effective coordination of efforts during the recent blackout, as well as for close cooperation in responding to the consequences of russia’s attack on an international highway in Odesa region.
Following the meeting, a number of bilateral agreements were signed, including on border crossing points at the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border and border procedures, as well as on the conditions of employment for family members of diplomatic staff of Ukraine and Moldova.
Of particular importance is the intergovernmental agreement on the repatriation of unaccompanied children. The safe and lawful return of children affected by the war is a shared responsibility of Ukraine and Moldova.
“Ukraine and Moldova are moving together on the path toward European integration. We firmly believe that deeper cooperation between our countries strengthens both states on this journey.
I am grateful to Alexandru Munteanu for a substantive dialogue, and to the people of Moldova for their support and readiness to stand with Ukraine in the most challenging times,” Yulia Svyrydenko stressed at the conclusion of the meeting.
