The Government is working with the regions to ensure the country's energy security and prepare for the next heating season. This was emphasized by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Energy, the RMAs, and representatives of energy companies on the implementation of the Regional Energy Security Plan.

“We have no illusions — the enemy will continue to attack the energy sector even when the weather gets warmer. Therefore, we are already preparing clear sustainability plans at the level of each region to ensure the uninterrupted operation of life support systems and the readiness of communities for the next winter,” Yulia Svyrydenko stressed.

The Head of Government voiced the key elements of the Regional Energy Security Plan:

1. Protection of critical infrastructure facilities.

2. Development of distributed generation infrastructure.

3. Alternative power sources for critical infrastructure.

4. Distributed heat generation.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister instructed the RMAs, together with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, Ukrenergo, and other responsible structures, to develop and submit regional energy sustainability plans with clear steps for their implementation.

Each region must take the following steps:

1) identify critical infrastructure facilities that require priority protection and autonomous power supply;

2) develop a step-by-step plan with deadlines for its implementation before the start of the heating season;

3) determine the need for equipment and financing of works;

4) identify the resources necessary to implement the Plan.

“The next task is to synchronize regional plans with the capabilities of the state and ensure their timely implementation,” said Yulia Svyrydenko.
