Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 18 October 2023 12:35

European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson has announced a grant contribution of more than EUR 50 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.

She emphasized that the European community should be prepared for continued russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in the coming winter and make efforts to minimize them.

"Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushchenko was also with us (at the EU Energy Ministerial Council - ed.), and I expressed the European Commission's unwavering support for Ukraine on the eve of another difficult winter," the European Commissioner said.

Kadri Simson also called on European states to continue making contributions to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, which will allow purchasing equipment needed to restore damaged energy facilities.

In his turn, Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko thanked the European Commissioner for her support and personal efforts in establishing the Fund.

"I am very grateful to Kadri Simson and all the countries that have become donors to the Fund. Thanks to this assistance, as well as the efforts of our military and power engineers, we will definitely survive and maintain our energy system," the Minister said.

The Energy Support Fund for Ukraine was established in spring 2022 at the joint initiative of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.

The Fund enables governments, international financial institutions, and private donors to provide substantial support to the Ukrainian energy sector.
