The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the World Food Programme continue to work on the implementation of the humanitarian food program Grain from Ukraine, which was launched on November 26 at the initiative of the President of Ukraine.

The ways of its implementation and further prospects of cooperation were discussed during the working meeting of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyy with the delegation of the World Food Programme headed by the World Food Programme Representative and Country Director for Ukraine Matthew Hollingworth.

The parties had a thorough discussion on the progress of the initiative.

Mykola Solskyy reminded that currently, three vessels with 80,000 tonnes of wheat had left Ukrainian ports in the framework of Grain from Ukraine, to be shipped to Ethiopia and Somalia.

Speaking about the current situation, Matthew Hollingworth informed that the World Food Programme was holding a tender for the purchase of 75,000 tonnes of agricultural products within the framework of Grain from Ukraine. The purchased grain will be sent to Ethiopia and Yemen.

Also during the event, the partners touched upon the interaction at each stage of the implementation of Grain from Ukraine.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop joint solutions and discuss further practical steps for their implementation in the near future.

It should be recalled that this initiative is aimed at providing grain to countries in Africa and Asia that are on the verge of famine. The program is implemented in partnership with the World Food Programme.

Its essence lies in the purchase of agricultural products from Ukrainian producers by donor countries and their transfer to countries on the brink of famine.
