Active work of the Government with the European Union prolongs and Ukraine wants to open all six negotiation clusters by the end of the year. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 2.

He noted the day before Denmark had started its six-month presidency of the EU Council – a period Ukraine had high expectations on. At this, Denys Shmyhal emphasized, robust internal work is underway. Negotiating teams have recently completed a screening of the compliance of national legislation with European standards in the transport sector, one of the key areas for integration. The next stage is the implementation of hundreds of EU legal acts into Ukraine's legal framework.

“We're on with the work to ensure that Ukraine becomes an EU member as soon as possible,” stressed the Prime Minister.

Apart from that, he informed Ukraine had received the ninth tranche from the IMF under the joint program worth USD 500 million.

“Never before in the history of its independence has Ukraine undergone 8 reviews under one program. Today, the Ukrainian Government and the Ukrainian State are a responsible partner. This is the trust that we have forged not only with the IMF, but also with the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Commission, the G7 and our other allies around the world,” stressed Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister highlighted that since the onset of the full-scale invasion Ukraine had attracted more than USD 135 billion of budgetary support from partners. This week, we also received USD 1.7 billion from Canada, which is secured by the proceeds of frozen russian assets.

“Our joint ERA initiative is working, and the russian frozen money is already contributing to Ukraine's defense and resilience,” he summed up.
