The Government in synergy with the National Security and Defense Council has shaped a series of solutions and mechanisms to ensure the uninterrupted supply of gas to budgetary institutions at reasonable prices, in particular for schools, kindergartens and hospitals. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a working trip to Donetsk region on October 27.
"Gas supply will be uninterrupted, even if a private company refuses to supply, the state will provide gas supply. There is enough gas in underground storage facilities. We will pass this heating season smoothly," the Head of Government stressed and added about the importance of timely heat supply by local authorities.
The Prime Minister dwelled on that during the heating season, subsidies will be allocated to everyone who needs them. To this end, the Verkhovna Rada, together with the Government, decided to allocate an additional UAH 12 billion hryvnias to subsidies.
Denys Shmyhal also stressed the importance of implementing energy efficiency measures. The PM noted that the housing stock and budget institutions should be modernized to minimize heat loss in the networks.
According to the Prime Minister, the state will stimulate appropriate measures through the Energy Efficiency Fund, which will provide UAH 2.6 billion next year. In addition, next year the state will receive international assistance in the amount of 300 million euros for the implementation of the project "Energy efficiency of public buildings in Ukraine." The project will help reduce energy consumption in about 1,000 public buildings, including kindergartens, hospitals and schools.
