Strengthened efforts are being made to provide both citizens and medical staff with personal protective equipment (hereinafter-PPE) Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko announced this at a briefing on March 19.
"Thanks to the President, the Government, the National Security and Defense Council, political talks with heads of state are conducted now to kick off supplies of intensive care equipment produced by the best world manufactures to Ukraine amid global deficit," he said.
Viktor Liashko also recalled that the Ministry of Health approved the method of calculating the monthly and quarterly needs for PPE. Adoption of a draft law that stipulates for a prompt purchase of the necessary medical equipment and medical devices to combat a coronavirus disease. Due to the global pervasive need for some PPE, the Government banned their export and re-export.
Moreover, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor informed that the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine met with producers, and in the near future a significant increase of PPE is expected.
"Within a few days, the face masks should be freely available in pharmacies. Maybe not everywhere but the deficit will be curbed. All ministries are working to ensure the protection of Ukrainians and health care workers," Viktor Liashko stressed.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that at present 11 regional laboratories, which are subordinated to the Ministry of Health, have tests to detect the coronavirus infection.
"Moreover, We expect approximately on Saturday or Sunday the delivery of the COVID-19 RT-PCR test, which is the gold standard for the diagnosis of coronavirus disease. This will allow us to test more than a million studies, " Viktor Liashko summarized.
