The Health Ministry is considering the creation of additional mobile teams to support family physicians. This was announced at a briefing by Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko.
According to him, at first, consultations will be provided by telephone, then a decision will be taken whether the doctor should visit the patient at home for diagnostics by using tests for coronavirus, influenza, adenovirus infections. Based on the results, further treatment and, if necessary, hospitalization will be decided.
Moreover, the official reminded that day a plane arrived in Ukraine from the People's Republic of China and delivered two types of tests for diagnosing of coronavirus COVID-19. “No need to worry that we will not have enough test kits. The healthcare system engages in preparing all the algorithms and works to ensure that none is left without testing or with an undetermined diagnosis,” said Viktor Lyashko.
Apart from that, according to him, a working group is currently working within the Ministry of Health to review standards of providing medical assistance. It is not the first time that such reviews are made, as information and data are updated regularly in accordance with the revised World Health Organization guidelines. In particular, it is planned to review algorithms for testing, treatment, sanitary sorting and more. The hospitalization criteria will be clearly determined as well.
In addition, this updated standard will contain the rules for pathologists. "Personally, I have instructed to prepare an order from the Ministry of Health to ensure that in all cases of death from pneumonia, both at present and in the previous periods, samples of material for examination for coronavirus infection have been taken," Viktor Liashko emphasized and added that this was necessary to analyze how the healthcare system detects and responds to coronavirus infection.
The Deputy Minister once again called for adherence to quarantine rules, especially for the elderly. He stressed that the issues of providing and delivering to such people products, medicines, pensions are also under the control of the Government.
“The Government is doing everything it can to prevent you from becoming infected. We also have a request for you – just stay at home. Adhering to the recommendations will allow us to help as many people in need as it is necessary. All the rules set out today at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers, at the level of the legislative branch, are aimed at protecting our population and with minimum losses passing the peak of the coronavirus morbidity in Ukraine,” Viktor Liashko stressed.
He reported that 73 cases of coronavirus were confirmed today, in particular, 26 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours.
