Viktor Liashko met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China: parties discussed cooperation in healthcare
Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Ma Shengkun and representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed how Ukraine's healthcare system is currently functioning in the context of full-scale war and the challenges it faces.
In particular, Viktor Liashko informed the Chinese side about the extent of damage and destruction to medical infrastructure, the growing burden on the healthcare system, and outlined the priority needs for the restoration of medical facilities and their equipping with modern equipment.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the state and prospects of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation in the field of healthcare, as well as possible directions for its practical development, taking into account the current needs of the Ukrainian healthcare system.
In addition, the parties discussed the issue of holding the fifth meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in Healthcare within the framework of the Chinese-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation.
The participants confirmed mutual interest in further deepening bilateral contacts, intensifying interdepartmental consultations and expanding cooperation in the medical field.
In general, Ukraine and China maintain cooperation in the field of healthcare on the basis of the Agreement on Cooperation in Healthcare and Medical Science, signed in 1992. It provides for the exchange of experience, implementation of joint initiatives and development of professional cooperation in the medical field.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine continues to work systematically on the development of international cooperation in the field of healthcare.
It should be noted that Ukraine and the Netherlands recently discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of healthcare.
