Deputy Ministers of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk and Roman Andarak met with Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Tatiana Molcean.
The parties discussed cooperation in the areas of energy efficiency and decarbonisation, as well as their scaling up to support the recovery of the energy sector.
The Deputy Ministers informed the UNECE Executive Secretary about the complicated situation in the energy sector after the enemy resumed massive attacks on energy infrastructure.
"Due to significant damage to generating capacities, including thermal and hydro generation, as well as to the transmission system operator's networks, we are currently facing a difficult situation in the power system and are forced to impose restrictions on consumers. We are carrying out repairs and trying to restore all the facilities that are possible. At the same time, it is clear that the enemy will not stop and will continue its attacks. Therefore, our main task now is to carry out repairs and deploy additional capacities, including distributed generation, to the maximum extent possible," said Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Particular attention was paid to the need to implement cooperation projects in cities located in the frontline regions and constantly subjected to hostile attacks, in particular in Kharkiv.
The meeting participants discussed the prospects of projects at the local and national levels. The focus was on cooperation and expert support in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy development, hydrogen technologies, and the restoration of damaged hydroelectric power generation facilities.
