On 31 January 2024, the first online meeting of the Equal Opportunities Sector of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO was held, chaired by Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko.

The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the Office of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, the Ministry of Education and Science, La Strada-Ukraine CSO, and V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of the UNESCO project “Gender Education for Foreign Students” and the Sector’s work plans for 2024.

Background

The National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO coordinates the cooperation of national institutions with UNESCO. The National Commission was established by a Presidential Decree of 26 March 1996.

The National Commission has established an Equal Opportunities Sector, headed by Kateryna Levchenko, a member of the Bureau of the National Commission for UNESCO and Government Commissioner for Gender Policy.
