
20-ieth meeting of Ukrainian-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation took place
Today, September 29, the 20th sitting of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held online. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii.
"The Republic of Lithuania is not only a good neighbor of Ukraine, but also a reliable friend and partner. First of all, I would like to express my deep respect and gratitude to the Lithuanian side for the consistent and systematic support of Ukraine in its efforts to develop a modern European state, for assistance in important reforms, for support regarding the return of occupied Crimea, and for comprehensive economic and humanitarian cooperation," Vladyslav Kryklii emphasized.
According to him, despite the annexation of part of Ukraine, the imposed war in the East as well as economic, trade and transit aggression, the Ukrainian state is pursuing consistent reforms and developing productive relations with the EU. While the course towards European integration has been and remains a constant priority for Ukraine's development in the international arena.
"As the Minister of Infrastructure, I confirm the readiness of the Ukrainian side to provide a sustainable, reliable, comfortable and convenient transport connection between Ukraine and the EU. Our main task in the field of transport is to fully realize the geographical location of our countries to increase freight traffic within existing projects and develop new ones. "We pay special attention to attracting and searching for a cargo base, using the capacities of the Viking train to northern Europe and back, as well as the transportation of goods from Turkey and the Middle East," said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Vladyslav Kryklii also noted the progress in increasing bilateral trade between Ukraine and Lithuania last year and called on the Lithuanian side to work to increase cargo turnover.
The participants of the meeting also discussed possible cooperation and further steps of Ukraine and Lithuania in the energy sector, oil and gas and electricity sectors, in the field of healthcare, space industry, etc. "I am confident that we will be able to identify promising areas to work on until the next meeting of our Commission," concluded Vladyslav Kryklii.
The meeting was also attended by: from the Ukrainian side - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivsky, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine for European Integration Natalia Forsiuk, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Health, State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, State Space Agency, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; from the Lithuanian side - Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania Rimantas Sinkevičius, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Health, Lithuainian Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology, Lithuanian-Ukrainian Council of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists.
