Meeting of governmental delegations of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova on trade and economic issues took place
The co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Moldovan Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, and Oleg Serebrian, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova, met in Odesa today.
"Moldova is one of our important partners, a friendly neighbour and a country that has repeatedly condemned russian aggression and confirms this not in word but in deed. Since the first days of the war, you have provided shelter to thousands of Ukrainian asylum seekers. We are grateful for everything you are doing for us," said Iryna Vereshchuk.
During the meeting, the parties had a constructive exchange of views on topical issues of Ukrainian-Moldovan relations. In particular, bilateral cooperation in the energy and infrastructure, border and customs sectors, and the prospects for European integration of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.
The parties discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector. The official thanked for Moldova's decision not to impose restrictions on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products, which is important for both sides, and expressed hope that these agreements would continue in 2024.
An agreement on cooperation in the areas of food safety and animal health was signed. This will provide additional opportunities for Ukrainian exporters.
"Today's agreements will contribute to the sustainable development of Ukrainian-Moldovan ties and will help the prosperity and development of our countries," Iryna Vereshchuk summed up.
