  • Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi met with Ukrainian private arms manufacturers

    On January 5, 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi got familiarized with the products of the Ukrainian non-governmental association of manufacturers of armaments and military equipment - "League of Ukraine Defense Enterprises".

    During a visit to one of the enterprises of the League - NGO "Practice" - the Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with the armored vehicle "Kozak-2M" and the process of its production, as well as other products manufactured by enterprises from the mentioned producers' association.

    Moreover, Oleg Uruskyi talked to manufacturers and discussed production activities, the development of military-technical cooperation and public-private partnership, as well as common ways to solve current problems.

    "I would like to emphasize that the League companies, including in cooperation with some state-owned manufacturers, are really making a significant contribution to strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. At the same time, both private and state producers are united by common problems, the settlement of which is important for the further effective functioning of the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine," Oleg Uruskyi stressed.

    In addition, during a conversation with the management of the enterprises of the "League", the Deputy Prime Minister reported on the developments that have been implemented over several months of the work of the Ministry for Strategic Industries, in particular, the situation around a number of regulations.

    The implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On Defense Procurement" is under special control of the Government. It is planned that in January it will be possible to adopt all the necessary documents to make it work. The Strategy of the Development of the Defense and Industrial Complex has been finalized. In the near future, it is vital to ensure that this document to be harmonized with the "Strategy for the Development of Arms and Military Equipment. As for the Law of Ukraine "On Peculiarities of Reforming of State-Owned Enterprises of the Defense and Industrial Complex", it is already under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada and, I hope, will be adopted soon", stated the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi.

    He also noted that in 2021 it is planned to establish the Defense Technology Agency, the prototype for which is the American DARPA. It will contribute to the creation of promising models of weapons and military equipment.

    It should be noted that the League of Ukraine Defense Enterprises is a non-governmental association of manufacturers of weapons and military equipment, which includes more than sixty domestic private companies engaged in the production of defense products in various areas, including armored vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare, communications means, etc.
