On September 6, 2018, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed two bills seek to develop trade and economic relations with Turkey and the Kingdom of Thailand.
244 lawmakers voted for the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on Mutual Assistance and Protection of Investments. The agreement envisages assistance to Ukrainian and Turkish investors regarding the management of investments, securing guarantees against illegal expropriation and nationalization of investments, free transfer of payments, and internationally recognized procedures for settling disputes.
The Verkhovna Rada also ratified the Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Thailand (241 votes in favor). The implementation of the Agreement will stimulate bilateral economic ties. At the same time, the said document stipulates for the creation of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade that is aimed at stepping up dynamic development of trade between countries.
