    MPs of Ukraine approved by 249 votes the amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020".

    While speaking at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal called on the lawmakers to support this bill.

    “This is the highest level of responsibility. This means to back the scenario of Ukraine's recovery from the crisis. In the recent version of the changes to the Budget, due to, among other things, the MPs, we could return funding for a number of programs. In particular, it concerns additional financing of regions, culture and education,” stressed Denys Shmyhal.

    The PM emphasized that no hryvnia would be withdrawn from the army and the military. Meanwhile, the most essential issue of today is to channel funds into measures to overcome the effects of coronavirus.

    “Those include the support of doctors, the purchase of medical equipment. It is proposed that the Ministry of Health expenditures be increased by UAH 16.4 billion. In general, together with other expenditures, the financing of medicine will actually increase 1.5 times,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

    Apart from that, expenditures of the Pension Fund will also be increased - by UAH 29.7 billion. This funding will be used for indexation of pensions, payment of UAH 1 thousand to seniors whose pension is under UAH 5 thousand.

    In addition, it is planned to raise spending of the Ministry of Social Policy by UAH 19.5 billion, which will allow to support people who lost their jobs through coronavirus.

    The draft State Budget envisages the establishment of a Coronavirus Response Fund to curb coronavirus infection and its consequences, with the budget amounting to UAH 64.7 billion.

    According to him, these funds will be allotted to additional payments to health workers involved in the fight against coronavirus, the purchase of medical equipment, providing financial assistance to members of the families of health care workers who died from COVID-19 and more.

    At that, the Head of Government accentuated that the Great Construction project still remains a priority, with a budget of UAH 72 billion.

    Denys Shmyhal thanked the MPs for the synergy in work and support.
