The State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine, together with the Education Quality Assurance System initiative implemented under the SURGe – Support to Ukraine’s Reforms for Governance project, has launched a website on school education for children who have been forced to leave Ukraine. The resource contains a description of the education system of Ukraine, a database of Ukrainian curricula in English and answers in Ukrainian to most common questions from parents of such children.

The refugee-ed.sqe.gov.ua website is a source of information about the Ukrainian school education system for government officials of those countries in which Ukrainian children have been forcibly relocated, as well as for their parents.

"In just the first month of russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, nearly two million Ukrainian children have fled its territory. Parents have numerous questions about how to organize their children's education. No less questions arise from the ministries, schools and teachers of the countries where Ukrainian students are now: how the education system in Ukraine is operating, what programs children study, how the evaluation of learning results is organized. In response to these challenges, the State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine, together with SURGe project partners, has launched a website to help schools abroad understand how to work most effectively with Ukrainian children," said Ruslan Gurak, Head of the State Service of Education Quality.

The resource consists of two blocks - Ukrainian and English versions. On the Ukrainian-language part of the website, parents of children will find answers to the most common questions about the organization of education of children who have been forced to leave Ukraine: how to obtain documents, transfer to the next academic year, in what form children can continue their education in Ukrainian schools, or vice versa what to do when a child attends a school abroad. The rest of the website is designed for ministries, schools and teachers in the countries where Ukrainian students are currently staying. There they will find information on how the school education system is organized in Ukraine, and most importantly – they can download concise programs of basic subjects for each class.

The information on the site will be constantly updated in accordance with the announcements and explanations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, changes in legislation and other innovations in the field of education.
