Digital Renewable Energy Facilities Register launched on Diia.Engine platform

The digital Register of Renewable Energy Facilities (RES Register), created for the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, has been launched on the Diia.Engine platform in Ukraine. This is a digital database of companies and their facilities that produce electricity from renewable sources: solar, wind, biomass, etc.

The RES Register contains complete information about the companies' licenses and their power plants, and also includes active consumers - companies that have their own generation and partially or fully provide themselves with electricity from alternative sources. This is the basis for issuing “guarantees of origin” - documents confirming that electricity is generated from clean sources and can be sold as green energy.

Previously, the RES Register was formed manually, through a series of separate Excel spreadsheets and lengthy data verifications. The process took longer and was less accurate. Now, the register is automatically updated, verified, and centralized, as well as integrated with other registers and systems.

The system covers the entire territory of Ukraine and all companies working with renewable energy sources. If your company is not listed in the public version of the register, you should check the data with your distribution system operator (oblenergo) and correct any errors.

The RES Registry was created on the basis of Diia.Engine, a low-code platform that allows building registries and digital systems quickly, securely and in a standardized manner. Thanks to Diia.Engine, registries operate and are modernized independently of a specific developer, can be quickly scaled and easily updated.

This is part of the implementation of European requirements in the energy sector. With the digital registry, Ukraine is taking another step towards a transparent energy market, supporting the development of green energy and facilitating access to European electricity markets.

Background Information

The Register of Electricity Facilities and Electrical Installations of Consumers (including Active Consumers) Using Alternative Energy Sources for Electricity Generation was developed within the framework of the USAID Energy Sector Transparency Project and with the active participation of experts from the DiXi Group think tank.
