The largest repair campaign at energy facilities in the history of Ukraine's independence is underway. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko during a briefing at one of the nuclear power plants, where a 1000 MW power unit had been launched today after repair. The work at the facility was completed ahead of schedule - 20 days earlier.

"Every day we can reduce the repair time and adding additional capacity to the power system is a challenge. But it is very important for balancing and maintaining our power system. And now we are trying to reduce the repair time as much as possible wherever possible," the Minister said.

The Minister of Energy stressed that the completion of the repair of the nuclear unit was especially important due to the russians' blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam, which had a direct impact on the operation of the power system.

"Unfortunately, due to the terrorist actions of the occupiers, hydroelectric generation is not operating at the capacity that was forecasted. Therefore, support from other generators is critical for the stable operation of the system," the Minister added.

German Galushchenko stressed that the disaster at Kakhovka HPP and, as a result, a significant decrease in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir poses an additional threat to the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP.

Another risk resulting from the terrorist attack at Kakhovka HPP is difficulties in the operation of large production facilities in the region that may arise due to a lack of water.

"This will also affect the energy sector. However, the Government is looking for solutions to keep large enterprises in operation," said German Galushchenko.

In his turn, Petro Kotin, President of Energoatom, thanked the staff of the nuclear power plant for their work: "The employees of the plant, fulfilling the task of the Ministry of Energy, were able to complete the work ahead of schedule. This is a very important event, and we thank the entire team, which made significant efforts to complete the task ahead of schedule."
