The Government has approved the terms and conditions of use of the EBRD-EIB joint project “Continuation of the third subway line in Kharkiv”. The implementation of the project is aimed to promote the development of a public transport network and increase the level of comfort for every citizen.
The project envisages the construction of a new section of the third metro line with two stations: Derzhavinska and Odeska, as well as the Oleksiivske electric engine house (with the capacity of 100 wagons with a connecting line to the third metro line), thereby reducing the trip time from downtown to southern dormitory suburb. In addition, it is planned the purchase of new rolling stock.
The implementation of the project is expected to alleviate the strain put on the overburdened road infrastructure and, as a consequence, improve the environmental situation in the city.
Within the framework of the project, EBRD and EIB disburse € 160 million each for the completion of the subway in Kharkiv on credit terms.
