June 9, the Cabinet of Ministers during a regular session approved a preparation plan for the 2021-2022 heating season. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, all the details and responsibilities for this process are outlined in the said document.

“At present, there are almost 16 billion cubic meters of gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage, and it is being pumped in so that the heating season will run smoothly. As for coal,  1.4 million tons accumulated in the coal warehouses Particular attention should be paid to this process so that the country is fully secured and the sources of supply are understandable," the Head of Government said.

According to the PM, the plan stipulates that the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development should take all necessary measures to resolve the issue of debts of heat energy producers before the start of the heating season.

"These are our agreements with local authorities and we will fulfill them. I would like to emphasize that in our plan, debt restructuring applies to heat power companies that supply heating and hot water to the population," Denys Shmyhal underscored.
