  • Government approves a list of economic activities that belong to the creative industries

    The Government, at its meeting on April 24, approved a draft order "On approval of the types of economic activities that belong to creative industries".

    The legislative instrument was developed by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in pursuance of point 2 Section II "Final Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Culture" regarding the definition of the concept of creative industries dated June 19, 2018, No. 2458-VIII.

    The document determines the list of types of economic activities that belong to the creative industries, according to the National Classifier of Ukraine. The list covers types of economic activities in the field of creative industries at the stage of creation of a creative product in the following sectors: visual, stage, audio, audiovisual art; design; literature and publishing; new media and IT; architecture and urbanism; advertising, marketing and PR; libraries, archives and museums; folk art crafts.

    The use of the list shall allow identifying creative industries in the structure of the Ukrainian economy and shall create the preconditions for obtaining statistical information on the state of creative industries. As creative industries have a positive impact on the economy, social integration, the humanitarian sphere, the use of the list will enable quantitative and qualitative understanding of the contribution of creative industries to GDP, employment, entrepreneurship, decentralization, cultural and educational processes.
