Today the Government has approved the National Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities until 2025, prepared by the Ministry of Social Policy to implement step 411 of the Government's Priority Action Plan for 2020, approved by Resolution № 1133-r of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 09.09.2020, and in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 08.09.2019 № 837 "On urgent measures to pursue reforms and strengthen the state."
In practice, the National Action Plan will help coordinate the work of central and local executive bodies, local governments, enterprises, institutions and organizations on the further implementation and enforcement of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and increase the effectiveness of actions to protect and ensure full and equal exercising all human rights and fundamental freedoms by persons with disabilities.
The National Action Plan for the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities until 2025 is based on the recommendations set out in the Council of Europe’s Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for 2017–2023, the annual report of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, a report of NGOs of people with disabilities "Inclusion and Equality", prepared by the All-Ukrainian Public Association "National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine" with the support of the British Embassy in Ukraine.
