During a regular meeting on May 19, the Government made changes to the procedure for allocating housing subsidies. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the new changes will allow for the reassignment of subsidies without a corresponding application, but with some exceptions.

"Since May of this year, the Government has introduced new rules for receiving subsidies. We have been carefully analyzing the situation in recent days, and today we are making some adjustments to these rules to simplify the procedure for obtaining assistance. Subsidy verification continues. It is fair and correct for those who really need them to receive," the Prime Minister stressed.

Also, according to the Prime Minister, the changes in the allocation of subsidies will affect the issue of having several housing facilities.

"If you are the owner of 3-4 apartments in Kyiv, you are not eligible for the subsidy. In this case, if you have an apartment in the city and a house in the village, it will not prevent you from getting assistance. Similarly, if you have another shared property with other people, we increase the amount of the deposit, which affects whether or not a subsidy is received. You can also apply for a subsidy with a deposit of up to 100 thousand hryvnias," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government also noted that by May 2021, almost 3 million households in Ukraine had received subsidized assistance. He stressed that the new verification rules will affect only a few percent of these households.

As Denys Shmyhal noted, from now on cases on assigning subsidies will be considered in some cases by social protection bodies on the ground. According to him, this will allow to reduce the terms of consideration of applications threefold.

"The Government is well aware of the importance of subsidies for our citizens, so I want to assure you that all those who need state support for housing and communal services will definitely receive it," summed up the Prime Minister.
