The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within the framework of the road safety policy re-enforces large-scale speed control by special means and officers of the National Police of Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his communication with media outlets in Kamianets-Podilskyi.
"Already from Monday - October 8", added the Prime Minister.
He explained that next week the traffic control will be recommendatory - the drivers will be warned of the excess. But then officers will write out a fine according to the law.
"And here I have to say. I do not need any fines or punishment. We need both drivers and pedestrians to be safe. The first week the the officers of the National Police will warn. And after, we will use all the mechanisms", the Head of Government said.
He also drew attention to the fact that the freight transport will be verified in compliance with the technical rules.
Background
The speed limit exceeding is the main cause of traffic accidents in Ukraine, where, according to statistics, nearly dozens of people are killed and about 80 are injured every day.
