The GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Developments is a regional organization of four  states: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova. GUAM is a promising and developing platform. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in an interview  with Newsmaker on the eve of his visit to Chisinau. During the visit, the Head of Government today, on October 5, will take part in the Summit of the Prime Ministers of the GUAM Member States.

"Let's remember, for what purpose in general GUAM was established? The organization was designed at countering Russian expansionism and an alternative path along the East-West line, isn’t it? Moreover, when I say "the belt" or the way, I mean not only the transport or logistic components, but also the energy and economic ones", Volodymyr Groysman said. - " I think that we are capable and should step up our economic cooperation - by introducing the rules of free trade within the framework of  GUAM, through closer economic cooperation, the launch of the Association for Business Cooperation".

The Head of Government stressed that the position of the GUAM member states should be more active and staunchest. Moreover, there is a ground for joint development. According to the results of last year, the trade flows between Ukraine and the GUAM countries has increased by 52.4%.

"The Working Body for coordinating actions of the Contracting Parties to the Free Trade Agreement kicked off its work. Our customs administrations have prepared the Protocol on cooperation in controlling  of goods and means of transport when implementing customs procedures. In the future, we are counting on the implementation of the GUAM Digital Trade Hub as well as the application and mutual recognition of digital signatures in the work of the customs", the Head of Government said.

"Another important initiative is the Agreement on facilitating the transit of goods by the GUAM member countries. Its implementation will allow filling the idea of GUAM transport corridor with practical content. For Ukraine, this is especially important in the light of the development of existing routes "Viking", "ZUBR", as well as trade routes to Poland. "In the regional context, this transport hub can become part of the global initiative to build the New Silk Road. Ukraine has been and remains one of the logistics centers along the West-East line. Within the country we are strengthening this potential from year to year - we are building new roads, we increase border transparency, we offer different forms of cooperation, including  the placement of production with an orientation towards the markets of third countries. GUAM is gaining momentum. This platform can make us stronger, both economically and politically", the Prime Minister underscored.
