The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, within the framework of the initiative to establish fair prices for heating and hot water for Ukrainians, opens a register of owners of district heating companies throughout the country and begins massive verification of the formation of tariffs on the ground. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during a Government sitting.

"We have decided to limit the price of heating provision in the country. We see that in many cities the price is unreasonably high. It is established by local communal grandees!" said Volodymyr Groysman. "Our objective is to ensure our decision (regarding the establishment of a fair price) be implemented. And the Ministry of Justice will continue to work to make public the information about district heating companies’ owners."

The Head of Government stressed that according to the information provided by the Ministry of Justice, some companies had been registered in Cyprus, the Seychelles. And there occurs a situation when soaring unreasonable prices are fixed for the people in utility bills, and money is transferred offshore.

"And this is not an issue of gas prices - it is equal all across the country. Heating provision costs vary!" urged Volodymyr Groysman. "But we will protect the Ukrainians! Today we are opening the register of district heating companies’ owners all over the country - there will be a lot of interesting information. The Minister of Justice and the Ministry of Justice will coordinate the work of all services to verify these heating providers."

Moreover, the Head of Government appealed to the mayors of cities with the requirement to analyze each formula of tariffs, purge away all corruption components and give people fair utility bills.

"We are elected by people for doing our job professionally", said Volodymyr Groysman.

As a reminder, under the decision of the Government in Ukraine, the threshold prices have been established for 1 GCal of heat at the level of UAH 1,400 in case of metering device installed or UAH 35.21 per 1 square meter in case of metering device not installed. For hot water - UAH 83.66 per 1 cubic meter in case of towel dryer installed and connected to the systems of hot water supply, UAH 75.74 per 1 cubic meter - in case of towel dryer not installed.
