Given the rapid spread of the coronavirus and the increased workload in hospitals, the Government continues to strengthen the medical system, announced Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a regular Government meeting on September 29.
Thus, the Cabinet of Ministers redistributed UAH 395 million to provide beds with centralized oxygen. In total, 90,000 beds are provided for patients with COVID-19 in Ukraine: 45,000 beds are currently ready, 97% of which are supplied with oxygen.
"The number of beds with oxygen supply at the beginning of the pandemic and now are two radically different numbers. The capacity has been strengthened many times, but we do not stop there and continue to work so that as many hospitals as possible have a centralized oxygen supply," Denys Shmyhal stated.
The Government has also allocated UAH 205 million for additional payments to medical and other employees of the laboratory units of the Ministry of Health who are directly fighting COVID-19.
As the Prime Minister stressed, this is an urgent need, given the high workload of laboratory centers, which currently work almost around the clock.
