  • Government allocates UAH 100 million to eliminate consequences of emergency situation in Chernihiv region

    The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has endorsed a decision to allocate UAH 100 million from the reserve fund of the state budget for 2018 to eliminate consequences of the emergency situation  that occurred  at the arms depots of military unit  of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the Ichnia district of Chernihiv region. The draft government decree  was shaped by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

     Commenting on the decision adopted, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman noted: "We allocate UAH 100 million. The  Ministry of Finance was instructed to coordinate this issue with the region (the leadership of  Chernihiv Regional State Administration) so that there are no bureaucratic hurdles", the Head of Government said.

    He stressed that at present all necessary emergency funds aimed to help  people are formed.

    "We will bring order, we will restore everything and no one will be left alone with its problems. The Government already had experience in  repairing damage after similar cases in Balaklia and Kalynivka The same will be done for inhabitants of Ichnia and nearby settlements. I will keep the situation under control", Volodymyr Groysman added.

    He stressed that all demining activities are being carried out and cleaning of the arms depot territory  should be continued in an accelerated regime. Similarly, it is of utmost importance  to restore gas and water supply to settlements that are currently disconnected from the networks.

    "According to the data which I have received, the process of recovery has been kicked off and soon locals can  return to their homes," the Prime Minister said.

    Separately, the Head of Government thanked the emergency response groups, the  military and volunteers who immediately came to the rescue. "By this example, people demonstrate how unified efforts should be carried out," the Prime Minister said. "I want to praise the coordination of services".
