Government to allot funding to the regions to pay increased wages to medical personnel engaged in the fight against coronavirus
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decision to allocate a subvention from the state budget to the regions, which will be paid a bonus to the medical staff involved in activities to curb coronavirus. The Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov announced at a briefing following the Government session.
“It is important for us to ensure, that all without exception healthcare employees, involved in coronavirus prevention activities in March receive three official salaries. We have already collected preliminary information from the regions: how many medical professionals there are, what amount of compensation is necessary to allocate. All these costs are covered by a subsidy. I think that this mechanism will be unlocked in the near future and our medical staff will receive additional compensation,” Maxym Stepanov stressed.
The Minister of Health added that the Government, as a whole, and he at the position of the Minister will exert every effort to protect healthcare professionals and provide them with everything they need, including personal protective equipment.
